SAINT JOHN 98.9 Big John FM WINNER: TIM CHAISSON “Lay Low”

Tim Chassion
BIO
Tim Chaisson is a PEI native who can synergize folk traditional with pop expression so seamlessly that you’re in his song as soon as the first note is released with no turning back. For Chaisson, his talent started generations ago. He’s a product of kitchen parties, the inescapable osmosis of folk and traditional music.
The multi-instrumentalist, performer and songwriter, Tim Chaisson, has been building a stronghold in the elite East Coast music community. He has been working steady as a musician since he was 13 years old, and has released three critically-acclaimed studio solo albums and one with his latest project Tim Chaisson and Morning Fold. Now in his early twenties, it’s apparent that with maturity and experience, his music is evolving to a level of garnering acclamations for both the East Coast Music Association (ECMA) and the Music PEI Association (MPEIA). Since 2001 Tim has been honoured with over nineteen industry awards or nominations,
This evolution has captured the attention of Canadian icons Gordie Johnson and Joel Plaskett who helped massage the new works of the record, featuring several co-writes with both.
Other accomplishments include being invited to Hollywood, California to work with producers Steven Miller (Sting, Pink, Suzanne Vega) and John Fields (Switchfoot, Mandy Moore) on honing his songwriting abilities and developing his unique craft. Also, he was extremely humbled to an honorable mention for his songs “All Over Again” and “Better Way” at the 2007 Billboard World Song Contest.

WINNING SONG LYRICS
“Lay Low”
© 2009 Tim Chaisson, Joel Plaskett, Gordie Johnson
We could stand around, get bumped into and drinks spilled on our laps
Wait in line for hours just to hear them talk behind our backs
Come on baby, close the blinds
Chorus
I wanna lay low with you, I’d trade it for a night out or two
It could never hurt just to stay inside tonight
With all the pricey places we could be, you should know my company is free
When everybody else is on the go, we’ll just lay low
We could roll this town and rock out loud, till we can hardly speak
We could play it out, lay it down just like we did last week
When we walk out that door and they’re face down on the floor
These are things we’ve done before
When you’re all dolled up like you’ve got somewhere nice to go
You really beat the band, so let’s change our plan and just lay low
They’ll never know what hides behind these doors
Especially when my company is yours
