Raised in Ireland, originally hailing from the east end of Toronto, at 27, Jesse David has visited 22 countries and lived in two.  His voyageur background has given him a unique worldview that has shaped a creative and thought provoking repertoire of songs.  Like so many artists, Jesse comes from a musical family. His father, Gary Weeks, was the front man of 70’s pop duo ‘Gary and Dave’ which penned the hit single and SOCAN classic “Could You Ever Love Me Again”.

Jesse recorded his first single “Trini Girl” with award winning songwriter Rich Dodson of The Stampeder’s.  The single went on to receive significant AM/FM radio airplay in the GTA putting Jesse David on the map of up and coming songwriters. Jesse also performed “Trini Girl” at Carabana Festivities.

“Bloodshed In Our Streets” is another song that has opened doors in the past for Jesse. The tune won the Rhythm of the Future Talent Contest earning Jesse the opportunity to work with Toronto rapper/producer Saukrates and Colin Munroe.  It was also used in conjunction with a Crimestoppers You Tube video plea for witnesses in relation to a Toronto homicide.  After the video was posted, Toronto Police Homicide squad received numerous tips and an arrest was made. The video was removed after receiving over 7,000 hits.

Jesse is continuing production with Ron Lopata (Matt Dusk,Tomi Swick) after the two recorded “Somewhere In The Distance” which recently became the regional winner for the 2010 Canadian Radio Star National Songwriting Competition.
